Tote Packaging Machine (TPM)

Automate Your Tote-Based System

When additional seconds can quickly translate into expenditures, the Tote Packaging Machine (TPM) provides an ideal solution for tote-based pharmacies handling approximately 3,500-4,000 orders per eight-hour shift.

The TPM moves, tracks, prints, packs and verifies your patient's order. Leveraging RFID technology and interfacing with your ordering system, it reads totes entering from a conveyor and creates shipping-ready packages. The TPM:

  • Increases throughput and accuracy.
  • Significantly reduces staffing requirements.
  • Multi-step verification ensures accuracy of the end package.

Automate your tote packing with a Tension TPM.

The Titus Tote Packaging Machine (TPM) plays an important role in pharmacies that handle 500+ orders per hour using a tote-based system. The machine increases throughput and accuracy while decreasing labor costs.

We’ve Got Your Number: ID Tracking

Traveling along a conveyor, a tote containing all patient prescriptions enters the TPM. Each tote contains barcodes or RFID codes associated with the order. The TPM reads the tote ID and queues the order in the system. Using the tote ID and associated data, the TPM queries a customer database for client-specific literature and shipping label information.

Patient Literature Printed On-Demand

With the required patient literature packets identified, the TPM prints the patient information on one of four printers within Tension’s HIPAA compliant quad-printer system. All printed packets generated within the system have printed barcodes for verification purposes. The materials are then folded in half, collated, verified and automatically inserted into a pre-addressed polybag.

Accuracy Assurance

Before moving on to sorting and manifesting, the package undergoes a three-point validation process. This includes a scan of barcodes on the:

  • Tote.
  • Literature packets.
  • Address label.

If any of these barcodes do not match, the package is rejected from the system and sent to an exceptions bin. The exceptions bin allows your technicians to quickly correct any errors before sending the package on its way to the pharmacy or patient.
